The Case for Deaf Self-Advocacy Training: The Need for a National Curriculum on Communication Access (2009) is a 146 page report that chronicles the effective practices work that guided the development of the curriculum. It shares the outcomes of a deaf consumer survey, focus groups and interviews conducted by CSD of South Dakota to identify current and promising practices related to self-advocacy and obtain direct feedback from the deaf consumers regarding self-advocacy. It contains the literature review and annotated bibliography compiled by CSD and Western Oregon University’s Regional Resource Center on Deafness. And it shares the outcome of second survey of rehabilitation counselors for the deaf.
